| ANIMATION PARKS TO GENERATE 2 LAKH ADDITIONAL JOBS BY 2010 Animation industry in countries such as USA, France, Singapore, China, Korea, Canada are growing very fast with the help of special policy support and initiatives provided by their governments. These policy and initiatives are playing a pivotal role for assistance in manpower development, infrastructure provisioning, huge investments etc. Indian government can also help the animation industry by giving them funding, provide guidance on manpower development and and recognize the animation courses. By recognizing these courses, students and youths will conveniently get the bank loans which is missing at present.
Philippines, China, Korea and Malaysia offers better quality and services compared to Indian companies and is one of major factor for low share of outsource work. Currently in India, most of the work is done on 2D only. In India, students are paying 2-4 lakh fee for the 3 years advance diploma in animation, while foreign universities charges are ranging between 25-30 lakhs for the same.
Currently, the Indian animation industry employs around 9000-15,000 animators in India and facing immediate demand of manpower 30,000. India will need skilled professionals like creative animators, conceptualiser, visualiser, 3D modellers, character designer, digital effects artist etc. who can handle multimedia softwares such as 3D studio Max, Maya, Tictactoon etc.
The dearth of quality institutions in India which can provide technical training in quality animation has caused a severe shortage of animators, visualiser, conceptualiser, 3D modellers, etc. in the absence of which animated movie makers are forced to take resort to overseas to accomplish high skilled movie making job and spend lot of money on them. The large gap between available courses and training needs as recognised by most animation companies in the country. Since, the viewers these days have no time and prefer to watch movies that are animated in much lessor time than normal movies, its market is growing at an average annual rate of over 20%.
Indian companies have captured around US$100-110 million of business which is a small pie of nearly $15 billion global animation industry and therefore there is a need to capture overseas markets through outsourcing and with low cost of movie production. Setting up of Animation Parks with Super Hi-Tech Studios would make India a hub for 3D animated movies and could alone generate employment opportunities for skilled animators to the extent of a minimum of 2 lakh in next 3 years because of potential of the industry and rising aptitude of youngsters to make career in the field as it seek creativity with abundant skills. These parks will also help Indian animation industry market size to reach over US$ 1 billion by 2010, with a CAGR of 30%.
